OK, so I hate it when my students shoot sunsets... but I did have to put this one in, just because I shot it at 11:30 last night. It's the longest twilight I have ever experienced, and it came at the end of a spectacular day. Blue sky and warm temps all day (after 4 days of clouds and rain), and all of Reykjavik was out on the street. I didn't stay up to see if it got any darker than this.
I met the SIM artists from the other location--from Canada, New Zealand, Germany, Italy, Sweden, etc. We will get together next week for short artists' talks and a small exhibition at the end of the month. I've begun some new work, but don't expect to see it here... it will be quite a while before anything will be finished. On Friday I head out with 2 of the other artists for 5 days driving along the south coast. At the top of my list is a visit to Jökulsárlón, a glacial lagoon full of floating icebergs not far from Grímsvötn, the volcano that erupted in May.

Ann, sorry to hear you are having such an awful time. Don't worry, hang on - the time will pass very quickly, and you'll be back in your favorite New Paltz in no time!
