Settling in at NES

I arrived at NES artists' residency in the northern Iceland town of Skagaströnd along with 13 other artists on Friday, and am settling into studio and house and small-town life. Artists share one big studio, a former fish processing factory that sits right on the water's edge. There are 4 residences scattered through town. Mine is shared with 2 others quite close to the studio, and is basic but comfortable. Nearby highlights include a coffeeshop (not yet open for the summer season), a country music bar (!), a small grocery with very expensive food, and a spectacular cliffside path looking west and north towards the arctic circle. As you might guess from the pictures, the weather has been full-on sun for a week, but clouds and rain expected in the next few days.
